Public steering

Public steering is back! Steer one of our steam engines around the Len Murray Arena and find out what it takes to manoeuvre one of these incredible machines. Public steering will take place on both days in the Len Murray Arena – there is no charge for this experience however a donation to our chosen charities can be made when registering.

Will’s Working Spaniels

Starting with one dog, Will shows how he trains for the shooting field, then increasing the number of dogs to three or even six, demonstrating how he trains and works the dogs on a shoot. He will end up with them all out in the ring and will also have a stand where you can see all the dogs and ask questions.

Lowestoft Dog Agility Display Team

We’re pleased to welcome the ‘A Team’ back to the rally this year. Enjoy these amazing dogs, which include many different breeds and cross breeds, as they perform their fast-paced displays.

Steam Stamp Trail

Look out for our stamp trail – back for 2023! Around the site, there will be stamps for children (and grown-ups!) to collect, stamp within our souvenir programme and take back to our Information Tent for a small gift. Collect your free programme from our Information Tent, next to the Len Murray Arena.

Barrel rolling

Back by popular demand – barrel rolling with a steam roller, only in our Len Murray Arena.

We have a full programme of displays and parades in our Len Murray Arena on both days, including:

Bandstand

The Lowestoft Longshoremen

The Lowestoft Longshoremen are a 14-strong choral group who perform shanties and songs of the sea, from traditional roaring shanties to more subtle nautical songs with layered harmonies. They also love crowd participation so please come along to the bandstand and join in!

Spangle Steel Pan Band

Norfolk-based Spangle were established in 2013 and perform all types of music.

Children’s Corner
Andy the Clown

Andy provides fun and magical entertainment for children of all ages. Andy sings, dances, plays games, tells jokes and even performs magic tricks.

Hanton’s Punch and Judy

Performing across East Anglia, Hanton’s Punch and Judy will be entertaining children with their traditional show. That’s the way to do it!

Wycomb Pastures Petting Farm

Wycomb Pastures has been running for almost 10 years and is an educational mobile petting farm. Customers can get close to a range of farm animals, including a dog, sheep, goats, rabbits and much more. We encourage hands on experience for all ages and cater for those with additional needs too. Customers can also feed, pet and hold a number of small animals.

In our steam engine area, you will find Jon Littlechild with ‘Sir Percival’ giving free rides in exchange for a voluntary donation.

Rural craft demonstrations

Come and enjoy watching these ancient crafts and don’t be afraid to ask questions as the craftspeople love to speak about their skills

  • Stuart Philpot – basket making demonstration

  • K Trayler – chair caning and rush seating demonstration in the craft marquee.
Gordon Storey

Gordon is a farrier and will be giving a horse shoeing demonstration.

Dash Astro

Public viewing using telescopes for solar observing.

Waveney Beekeepers

Demonstration hives, educational displays, honey and candles.

Craft Marquees

In the craft marquees, you will find a wide variety of additional crafts on display and for sale, including jewellery, paintings, glassware and gifts.

Model marquee area

There will be many models on display in the model marquee, showing the skill, dedication and enthusiasm of the exhibitors.

The Village Pantry

This is the rally’s own catering outlet offering tea, sandwiches, cakes and soft drinks and a place to rest your legs. This marquee has a history originating in the first rally and is staffed by volunteers from the surrounding villages with all profits going to charity.
